内容概要
The town house (a house with a party wall) is one of the most interesting and innovative urban phenomena in the current architectural panorama, whose origins lead back to palaces and the mansions of wealthy families who fled their feudal conflicts and preferred the tranquility of the cities. These days, the town house is without doubt becoming a typology on the rise in the constant searchfor unique living spaces. In urban areas, it is the perfect solution to fill the niches, corners and tiny sites that are quite common in the city grid. This book is a recompilation of some of the more interesting town houses that have been recently constructed, united by their ability to make the most out of their space in such creative ways. Within the basic typology of flat Parallel walls, a world of possibilities open: spaces full of light, endless staircases, curtain walls, facades that spread completely out to the street or contrarily enclose into mysterious gardens and interior patios. The play between inside and out, public and private, work space and living space is intrinsic to the language spoken by the new town house: a house that proposes a way of dwelling - and therefore a lifestyle - that is attartive and wholly urban.
