前言

　　2004年1月《大学英语课程教学要求》指出：“大学英语的教学目标是培养学生英语综合应用能力，特别是听说能力，使他们在今后工作和社会交往中能用英语有效地进行口头和书面的信息交流，同时增强其自主学习能力、提高综合文化素养，以适应我国经济发展和国际交流的需要。”　　对一般要求（相当于大学英语4级水平）中英语听力能力的要求如下：“能听懂英语授课，能听懂日常英语谈话和一般性题材讲座，能基本听懂英语国家慢速英语节目，语速为每分钟130词左右，能掌握其中心大意，抓住要点。能运用基本的听力技巧帮助理解。”　　听是语言活动的主要形式，也是人们获得信息、进行交流和实现语言交际功能的重要手段之一。听力理解能力是一种综合能力。它不但要求应试者具有扎实的语言基础知识，丰富的词汇量，较强的阅读能力和话语能力，而且要求应试者具有较强的辨音及捕捉主要信息的能力，较强的短期记忆能力和一定的综合分析及判断推理能力。因此，在准备四级听力考试过程中，除了了解各类题的特点，熟悉各类题的形式，掌握各类题的答题对策，平时加强训练外，应试者还需掌握一定的应试技巧。然而，听力训练不能急于求成，一些应试者试图依靠技巧来应付考试，而平时不花工夫学好英语本身，这是本末倒置的做法。总之，应试者听力分数的高低主要取决于他们是否具备坚实的语言基础，一定的文化背景知识，基本的听力技能和正确有效的听音习惯。　　为了帮助广大应试者顺利通过大学英语四级考试，我们有针对性地编写了这本《历年大学英语四级考试听力全真试题》（2000年1月一2009年6月共20套）。本书严格按照《大学英语课程教学要求》中对听力四级部分的要求编写。听力材料选自2000年1月一2009年6月，10年共20套试题。所选材料之多，年代之久，是目前市场同类书中所没有的。

　　If you visit a big city anywhere in the world, you will probably find a restaurant whichserves the food of your native country.Most large cities in the United States offer aninternational sample of foods. Many people enjoy eating the food of other nations. This isprobably one reason why there are so many different kinds of restaurants in the UnitedStates. A second reason is that many Americans come from other parts of the world. Theyenjoy tasting the foods of their native lands. In the city of Detroit, for example, there aremany people from Western Europe, Greece, Latin America, and the Far East. There aremany restaurants in Detroit which serve the foods of these areas.There are many otherinternational restaurants too. Americans enjoy the foods in these restaurants as well as theopportunity to better understand the people and their way of life. One of the most commoninternational restaurants to be found in the United States is the Italian restaurant.Therestaurant may be a small business run by a single family. The mother of the family cooksall of the dishes, and the father and children serve the people who come to eat there. Or itmay be a large restaurant owned by several different people who work together in thebusiness. Many Italian dishes that Americans enjoy are made with meats, tomatoes andcheese. They are very delicious and tasty.
