　语序是语言表义的一个重要手段。当一个名词短语中的名词中心语受多个前置修饰语修饰时，这几个前置修饰语之间的相对位置次序虽然有时似乎具有一定的灵活性，但在大多数情况下却较为固定，呈现出一定的规律性。有时，位置的不同可能带来意义上的不同。例如，Quirk et al（1985：1341）指出，在英语中，diny English books是指弄脏的英语书，而English dirty books更有可能指的是英语淫秽书籍。　　那么，在英汉两种语言中，多项前置修饰语的惯用句法位置次序究竟有哪些相似和不同之处？次序的异同表达了哪些语义和语用功能？其背后的认知理据又是什么？这些都是值得深入探讨的问题，毛薇博士在《英汉多项前置修饰语次序的认知功能探索》中所要研究的正是这些问题。在总结和归纳前人研究的基础上，作者通过对自己收集的大量带有多项前置修饰语的英汉描述性名词短语实例语料的分析，从认知功能的角度深入分析和研究了多项前置修饰语排序的认知过程和一般排序原则。

作者简介

毛薇（1977－），文学博士，同济大学外国语学院讲师。2000-2006年在上海外国语大学学习，获英语语言文学硕士学位和外国语言学及应用语言学博士学位，已在《解放军外国语学院学报》、《西安外国语大学学报》等刊物上发表论文数篇。
