　　The Chinese Lunar New Year is the longest chronological record in history，dating from 2600 BC．Like the Western calendar，the Chinese Lunar Calendar is a yearly one，with the start of the lunar year being based on the cycles of the moon． Therefore，because of this cyclical dating，the beginning of the year can fall anywhere between late January and the middle ot February．A complete cycle takes 60 years and is made up of fivecycles Of 12 years each．　　Evidence from the Shang oracle bone inscriptions shows that by at least the 14th century BC the Shang Chinese had established the solar year with 365 and I／4 days as well as the lunar version with 29 and 1／2 days．In the calendar used by the Shang，the seasons of the year and the phases of the Moon appear to all be accounted for．Analysis of surviving astronomical records inscribed on oracle bones reveals a Chinese lunisolar calendar，with intercalation of lunar months，dating back to the Shang Dynasty of the fourteenth century BC．Various intercalation schemes were developed for the early calendars．Early Eastern Zhou texts，such as the Spring and Autumn Annals，provide better understanding of the calendars used in the Zhou Dynasty．　　One year usually had 1 2 months，which were alternately 29 and 30 days long，and intercalary months were added in an arbitrary fashion at the end of the year．

•   在实体书店里偶然买到一本这个系列的书，叫《每天读点中国文化-饮食天下》，当时就爱不释手。里面是中英文对照，介绍了中国文化的各个方面，有脉络有枝叶，很丰富，很长知识。英语的翻译也很地道，有志于向外国朋友传扬中国文化的千万别错过，呵呵，因为读完之后一些很中国的词汇你会知道怎样让外国朋友明白。在当当上把这个系列剩下的几本收入麾下，大爱~~
