《新视角初中英语阅读第4册》是专为基础程度学生而设计，希望通过系统性的架构，为学生提供全方位的阅读材料与练习，使用的语法和词汇也设定在初级程度。阅读材料    本书所选用的阅读材料都是学生在日常生活中经常会遇到的，包括短文、故事、对和实用材料等，另外还有填充测验练习。    短文和故事每篇大约一百二十五个词左右，每篇都是精挑细选，以期符合初中生的兴趣。一旦学生们对阅读内容感兴趣，他们学习的动机就愈强，阅读能力也会因此大为提升。此外，许多单元的内容旨在加强学生们对某些重要领域的认识，例如艺术、科学和外文化等，因此学生在练习阅读的同时，还可增进对世界的了解。对话部分则着重于日常生活的情境，如自我介绍和电话留言等，以帮助学生学习自然而口语化的英文。实用材料部分则采用生活中常见的材料，如菜单、图表、时间表、网站等。练习活动    每篇阅读材料之后都有三种练习活动，第一种是词汇练习，介绍阅读材料中的四个单词或短语。单词和短语的选取是根据其使用频率高低以及是否适合学生使用。接下来是四个阅读练习的问题，涵盖内容细节、大意、词义等，以测验学生的理解能力。最后是语言练习测验，针对一个与该篇阅读材料有关的结构或语言技能进行练习。生词和短语一览表    本书最后还有—个生词以及短语一览表，涵盖阅读材料中的所有生同及短语。    《新视角初中英语阅读第4册》既严谨又有趣。本书在编排架构和教学思路上都相当严谨，教师可确保学生获得其所需的阅读练习，而且内容丰富并具学术基础。此外，内容、排版和插图的设计都将让学生感到无穷的学习乐趣。使用本书将可使学生提高阅读、词汇和语言技能，同时拥有愉快的学习体验。作者简介：　　Andrew E. Bennett has been involved in English education sinc1993, both as a teacher and a writer. He is the author of morethan 30 English learning books. His work includes classroomtexts, supplementary materials, testing materials, and self-studymaterials.　　Andrew received his BA from the University of California, SantaCruz. After working in the tield for many years, he returned toschool, earning his Ed M (Master of Education) from Harvard University.　　Central to Andrew's teaching philosophy is an emphasis on content. He works hard toincorporate local topics of interest into his books. At the same time, he includes sub-ects from countries around the world, giving his work an international flavor. Andrewalso enjoys writing about cultural issues, as he is convinced of the vital ]ink betweenlanguage and culture. He strives to increase cultural understanding in the teaching ofEnglish, the global language.    白安竹老师从1993年开始涉足英文教学，他既是位老师又是位作家，撰写了三十多本英语学习用书，包括课堂用书、补充资料、测验资料以及自学用书等。    白安竹毕业于加利福尼亚大学圣克鲁兹分校，获学士学位。在英语教学领域工作了几年后，他又回到学校学习，并取得哈佛大学的教育硕士学位。    白老师的教学重点在教学的内容上。他尽量把当地一些有趣的主题融合到他的书里，同时，他也取材于世界各地的见闻，使得他的书更国际化。白老师很喜欢写一些文化议题，因为他相信语言跟文化之间有着密不可分的关系，在教授国际语言——英语的同时致力于加强文化方面的了解。
