本书作者采取定量研究与定性研究相结合的方法,运用认知和社会心理学理论的原理,对217名非英语专业大学生英语学习的略中的个体差异和文化因素进行了调查。研究结果表明,学生的英语学习策略受六种变量的影响,即:学习兴趣、英语水平、学习动机、学习方法、所学专业和性别。研究结果还显示,学生英语学习策略的使用与我国传统文化和教育中的四种因素有关:(1)文化价值和观念;(2)我国传统的教育模式;(3)英语作为外语教学的背景;(4)我国的社会环境。
