Preface
This book is written mainly based on Document 4444 (Air Traffic Management) of International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) and some documents related to air traffic services published by Air Traffic Management Bureau of China. It can be used for theoretical training and simulator training in the basic non-radar control course.
There are 7 chapters in the book. Chapter 1 provides general rules and procedures which are useful for non-radar control training; Chapter 2 describes ICAO separation standards; Chapter 3 introduces the applicable separation minima in China; Chapter 4 presents the procedures and practices in departure and arrival phases of flight; Chapter 5 shows the procedures and practices in the en route phase of flight; Chapter 6 covers local rules and procedures for approach and area control which will be used in the simulator training; Chapter 7 explains the procedures and practices which will be followed when doing exercises in the non-radar control simulator.
The book is intentionally written for training purpose, not for real world in air traffic control. It contains rules and regulations which are mostly applicable in China. By referring to the book, the trainer may apply different procedures and practices which are actually applicable in the real world.
