This second edition of "Categories Work" adds two new chapters on topics of active interest. One is on symmetric monoidal categories and braided monoidal categories and the coherence theorems for them--items of interest in their own right and also in view of their use in string theory in quantum field theory. The second new chapter describes 2-categories and the higher-dimensional categories that have recently come into prominence. In addition, the bibliography has been expanded to cover some of the many other recent advances concerning categories.

•   一本非常严谨的关于范畴论的经典书。作为物理领域的人，我觉得很不好读，所以总共加起来就看过几页。我觉得Kessel的****TUMGROUPS里面对CATEGORY论述非常清晰易读，我估计做物理的人应该都会有这种同感。就像我们喜欢“TENSORCATEGORY"的称呼，而数学家他们总是用”MONOIDALCATEGORY“这个词，数学家与物理学家的交流上的区别。书的内容上，从物理的角度上，它侧重在CATEGORY，MONOIDALCATEGORY上，在RIBBONCATEGORY和BRAIDEDCATEGORY则论述很少。我给5星，是因为，它确实很好的数学书。另外，这本书是第二版的，应该加分。

•   有很多范畴学的内容，比交换代数与同调代数的书里讲得多
•   作者是范畴论创始人之一，因而此书术语不甚标准，但它在范畴教材中的地位依然无法被动摇。
  GTM的电子书在网上都有，印刷有问题可以对照一下
•   范畴非常重要，越早看越好
•   好书啊，介绍范畴论的经典教材，我先看了下贺伟老师的《范畴论》很不过瘾，如果你想从根本上弄懂范畴论，那就看MacLane的这本吧

•   我在网上买过不少书，头一次碰到质量问题，书中很多空白页，没有印刷的，想换货，又不支持上门换货（为什么买书可以货到付款，但换货却不行？）。互动网就可以的。比较失望。
•   　　对这些影印版图书就那么不上心么，封底的作者名字都写错，这已经是我第二次看到这种低级错误了，《理想数、簇与算法》竟然把封面标题都写错，影印图书的国内工作量本来就小，这还做不好，工作人员去死了算了
•   若我沒記錯的話，世圖的影印書還有幾處經典的馬虎：
  Random matrices書脊上寫成Pandom，總讓我想起熊貓；
  GSW的超弦，第二冊與第一冊書脊上印刷相同，擺在書架上讓人很迷惑；
  共形場論，有一部分書的第一冊友情多加了一堆第二冊的內容，算是加量不加價；
