前言

　　为了适应社会发展的需要，加快计算机人才的培养，我们依据最新《高等职业教育英语课程教学要求》，编写《计算机英语》。本教材从高级应用型人才培养的总体目标出发，结合学生毕业后的工作实际，针对高职高专职业技术教育的特点，体现现代职业教育创新理念，以学生为中心，以真实的任务为线索，兼顾语言知识和实践能力，用于培养应用型技术人才。本教材从以下几点理念出发进行编写：　　1.以需求调查与分析为基础，合理确定教材编写内容的侧重点　　通过去企业调研、参加招聘会、网络检索、毕业生回访等，了解劳动力市场对学生英语能力的需求。在分析学生未来就业的行业及岗位（群）需求、涉及到典型工作任务的基础上，进行英语目标情景与学习需求分析，充分考虑日常活动和与未来职业相关的业务活动的实际需要，合理确定教材编写中的侧重点。做到教材有针对性，符合职业教育的特点。　　2.关注学生职业能力的发展，发挥英语的工具作用　　注重培养学生实际应用语言的技能，特别是用英语获取有用信息、处理与未来职业相关业务的能力，发挥英语的工具作用。使学生英语的口头、书面表达和交流能力为学生职业能力的发展服务。　　3.突出以学生为主体，注重语言学习策略的培养　　学生的发展是英语教材编写和使用的出发点和归宿。英语课程开发、教材编写、内容选择等方面都突出以学生为主体的思想。教学材料应成为学生在教师指导下构建知识、提高技能、磨砺意志、活跃思维、展现个性、发展心智和拓展视野的重要依托，教材编写除了它的实用性、科学性、可选择性之外，还考虑到学生已有的知识、语言技能、认知水平、学习动机、兴趣爱好等。培养学生掌握有效的学习方法，为提升学生的就业竞争力及今后的可持续发展打下良好的基础。　　4.教材体现以学生为中心，融“教、学、做”为一体的教学理念　　根据需求分析，设计教学情境，采用任务驱动、情景模拟等教学方法，实施模块式教学；积极使用计算机、网络技术等现代化教学手段，充分利用多媒体开展教学，加强互动与协作学习，使学生参与到信息查询与检索、组内互相讨论、面向全班汇报成果的任务中。

　　Modem digital computers are all conceptually similar. regardless of size. Nevertheless，they can be divided into several categories on the basis of cost and performance：the personal computer or microcomputer，a relatively low-cost ma-chine，usually of desktop size（though“laptops”are small enough to fit in a briefcase，and palmtops“can fit into a pocket）；the workstation，a microcomputer with enhanced graphics and communications capabilities that make it especially useful for office work；the minicomputer，generally too expensive for personal use，with capabilities suited to a business，school，or laboratory；and the main-frame computer，a large，expensive machine with the capability of serving the needs of major business enterprises，government departments，scientific research establishments，or the like（the largest and fastest of these are called supercomputers）.　　Digital computer is not a single machine：rather，it is a system composed of five distinct elements：（1）a central processing unit；（2）input devices；（3）memory storage devices；（4）output devices；（5）a communications network，called a bus，which links all the elements of the system and connects the system to the external world.
